This course presents an introduction to mechanics, instructed by Prof. Wei YANG at Zhejiang University, a leading scientist in solid mechanics. Mechanics is the science concerning force, motion, and deformation, studying the macroscopic and microscopic mechanical behaviors of complex matters in nature and engineering. The principles of mechanics have successfully described the system of the world, as well as revealed the rules underlying many phenomena encountered in our daily life. The goal of this course is to develop a conceptual understanding of the core concepts in mechanics, a familiarity with the role of mechanics in the development of modern society, and an ability to apply the knowledge of mechanics to analyze and solve practical problems.
