Multiple fully funded PhD positions are available as early as Fall, 2022 in Dr. Ning Zhang’s research group at the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa). The research work will focus on the mechanical and thermal properties of structural and multifunctional materials.

The research topics include:

(1)   Polymer composites;

(2)   Medium/High entropy alloys;

(3)   Biomaterials;

(4)   Machine learning.

We are always looking for highly self-motivated students with background in mechanical engineering, materials science, engineering mechanics, solid mechanics, civil engineering or related area. Our group conduct multiscale computational modeling including first principle calculations (e.g., DFT), molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, coarse-grained MD simulations and concurrent atomistic-continuum (CAC) simulations.

Interested applicants please send an email to Dr. Ning Zhang at nzhang20@eng.ua.edu with your CV, GRE and TOEFL scores if applicable. This position is available immediately, which can start from Spring 2022, or Fall 2022.
