Dear Colleagues,

Dr. Angela Mihai (Cardiff University), Pr. Alain Goriely (Oxford University) and I will organize a research programme at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences (INI), Cambridge University (UK), from July 10th to September 1st (2023). The theme is Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modelling of Materials, and the primary goal is to foster interactions at the interface of applied mathematics and mechanics of materials, through seminars, workshops, and informal discussions. A brief description can be found on the website.

Two workshops will be organized:

  • One summer-school-like workshop will take place during the first week (July 10-14) and will provide a broad introduction to the field, with lectures covering stochastic modeling, propagation, inverse problems, and applications;
  • A second workshop (July 31-August 4) will focus on Mathematical Mechanical Biology: Old School and New School, Methods and Applications.

Seats are limited. Deadlines for registration (through the above website) are March 12 and March 28 for Workshop 1 and Workshop 2, respectively.

Looking forward to seeing you in Cambridge!

-Johann
