Please consider reading our two recent papers: (1) "Modeling single-molecule stretching experiments using statistical thermodynamics" in Physical Review E, and (2) "Statistical mechanical model for crack growth" also in Physical Review E. We utilize the same asymptotic approach (also used previously in a third Physical Review E paper) to analytically evaluate device effects in molecular stretching experiments and a revisted model for subcritical crack growth. The asymptotic approach continues to prove its usefulness in obtaining accurate but practical relations. It could be useful for you!
