TEM Postdoc Position at Sandia National Lab.

TEM Postdoc Position Available at Sandia National Lab.
Job Description: The CINT Science Department is searching for a postdoctoral appointee to pursue research in the area of leading-edge in-situ electron microscopy of nanomaterials and their properties. The successful candidate will work closely with the staff scientist heading electron microscopy research activities at CINT on topics related to the structural, mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of modern nanomaterials. This research effort uses a Tecnai F30 transmission electron microscope (TEM) outfitted with a Nanofactory TEM-scanning probe microscope (SPM) platform capable of conducting in-situ structure and property correlation measurements of nanostructured materials. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in in-situ TEM-SPM and associated experiments as well as prepare samples for the TEM.

Required / Desired Criteria

Required Criteria:
1) A Ph.D. degree within the last three years in a scientific or engineering field investigating the science of materials, where the thesis research emphasized use of a transmission electron microscope (TEM)
2) Experience and expertise in several techniques related to TEM (e.g. analytical microscopy, high-resolution imaging, energy-loss spectroscopy, electron diffraction, scanning TEM imaging, etc.)
3) A strong record of technical achievement as evidenced by publications in scientific journals. A publication list should be included as part of the resume.

Desired Criteria:
A) Experience with electrochemistry, battery
B) Experience with optical lithography, ebeam lithography, and focused ion beam methods in a clean room
C) Expertise in electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of materials
