I am stuck with a problem while starting to learn programming UEL in FEAP.
As a starting point, I programmed Isotropic Linear Elastic element (3D 8 node linear interpolation/shape functions), with one-point integration.
Before running this UEL, I wrote a simple 8 element input file and used FEAP standard Solid element (ELAStic, ISOtropic), the results for this input file were nice.
However when I ran the analysis for this input file with my UEL (USER 04), the displacements were unbelievable (x10^16).
I understand from word of mouth, as well as an extensive study/Master'sThesis (http://publications.lib.chalmers.se/records/fulltext/164269.pdf), that Abaqus XFEM formulation works, but that processing of results to obtain reported SIF (KI, KII, KIII, not sure about J, others) are in error due to apparent bugs in Abaqus's algorithm to calculate the SIFs.
my problem is to define initial value for solution dependent state varibales in Vumat.when I define them in .log file the same as help,it doesn,t work and the error is your'e defining initial condition for element zero while this elemet doesn,exist.what can I do for solving this prolem.

I must model porous materials in abaqus!!but really i am confused how to create these complex shapes :p:p:p
voids in my models are not arranged but i thinks that i have to model them regular,how ever i need to simulate an configure like bone structure(specially that some wheres in model have more voids or less some thing like bone)
by the way my models are 3D and thickness of trabeculae|(pores wall) in configure is not constant(just like bone!!):cool:
I'm using Abaqus in analysis of random vibration fatigue. I linked abaqus with fe-safe to calculate the fatigue life. Fe-safe didn't recognize the random load comming from Abaqus correctly, althghou it already recognize the cyclic(normal) load crrectly in one of the tutorial's attached example.
I have writed a elastoplastic VUMAT to analyse a model in abaqus explisit code but after the analysis was finished, i can not observe the plastic strain conutors in it, in the onther word there is not PE option at odb field output. I rewuest you to give a favor to me. I am confused
Hi friends
I have two errors in my simulating ,with this massage:
2 nodes are missing degree of freedoms. The MPC/Equation/kinematic coupling constraints can not be formed. The nodes have been identified in node set ErrNodeMissingDofConstrDef.
Analysis Input File Processor exited with an error.
I checked all constraints in those two nodes, and I am sure that I created these constraints like others, but I cannot understand what is the problem?
Also there is a warning:

Dear all, I want to simulate forming process with abaqus, and extract the modal frequencies of the formed model. I mean two steps in a single model. Is it feasible? Many thanks for your discussion and help.
i am currently doing project using ansys. i have to model the properties of a gel using viscoelastic properties. there are different viscoelastic models in ansys , i dont know which model should use and how we get the parameters for that model.hope a favourable reply
i simulted impact on ceramic plate but after the impact the element of
