Reconstruction of Governing Equations from Vibration Measurements for Geometrically Nonlinear Systems

Submitted by Antonio Papangelo on

Data-driven system identification procedures have recently enabled the reconstruction of governing differential equations from vibration signal recordings. In this contribution, the sparse identification of nonlinear dynamics is applied to structural dynamics of a geometrically nonlinear system. First, the methodology is validated against the forced Duffing oscillator to evaluate its robustness against noise and limited data.

Magneto-elastic composite

Dear all,

May I bring your attention to recent papers of our that deals with fibre-reinforced magneto elastic composite at large strain?

Journal Club for August 2019: Instabilities in Soft Composites

Submitted by Stephan Rudykh on

Elastic instability is a fascinating phenomenon playing an important role in pattern formations in soft biological systems. The phenomenon also has been actively used by the (i-)mechanics and physics community to design new (meta-) materials with switchable microstructures, properties, and functions [1].
