The deadline of short abstract (80 words) is November 15, 2017.

ASME just released its journal information for 2016.  Among >30 journals published by ASME, JAM is once again the fastest, with the average review time (including the time for review, authors’ revision, and re-review) to be 42 days.  The second fastest ASME journal is 101 days.  As a result the impact factor of JAM (for whatever it is worth) exceeds 2.1.

This post is to remind IMECE Tampa attendees that in addition to the many exciting symposia that have been organized by mechanicians for Track 12---the following key events will also take place:

(1) Plenary lectures sponsored by Applied Mechanics Division, will be given by Professors Subra Suresh and Howard Stone, Tuesday morning, Nov 7th,  8-9:30am;

(2) Koiter Medal lecture, to be given by Professor Wei Yang, Tuesday afternoon, 5:30-6:30 pm, Nov 7th, Tue.

The Simulation Science Center Clausthal/Göttingen offers a PhD position for 3 years in the area of Computational Material Sciences with the research topic „Pressure induced phase transition and plasticity in ironcarbon alloys“. Tasks include research in material science, in particular atomistic simulations of iron-carbon systems under high pressure to evaluate the influence of carbon on strength and material embrittlement.
