Mechanical integrity of bio-inspired composites
Mechanical integrity of bio-inspired composites
There is an immediate opening for a PhD student
position with a target start date of August 2014 in the Computational
Biomechanics and Solid Mechanics Laboratory at Villanova University.
Research projects will be in the general area of
computational mechanics with an emphasis on biological materials. Candidates
with a strong background and interest in mechanics, biomechanics and
computational modeling are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a Master’s
degree and previous research experience are preferred.
My group in the Deaprtment of Engineering Science & Mechanics /Biomedical Engineering has an immediate RA opening, expected to start from the Fall of 2014.
The student of this position will be working on establishing computational mechanics models incorporating essential electrochemical details to study the performance and degradation of battery materials. We use both continuum theories as well as molecular dynamics as essential tools for simulations. The student will also have the opportunities to work with experimental team members on biomechanics.
We are looking for a PhD
student to work on Numerical modelling of landslides and generated seismic waves.
This PhD is funded by the European project ERC SLIDEQUAKES.

Phani Motamarri, from the University of Michigan, is the 2014 Melosh Medalist for his paper "A Spectral Finite-Element Based Method For Large-Scale Quantum Mechanical Calculations Using Kohn-Sham Density Functional Theory". Please join me in congratulating Phani!
Dear friends:
Prof. Patrizio Neff has asked me to post the attached recent paper on Logarithmic Strain. It looks quite interesting (I haven’t read it yet).
