The Structural Engineering and Infrastructure Materials (SEIM) group at Northwestern University has an opening for a postdoctoral Research Associate position to work on Multiscale Modeling of Infrastructure Materials.

The International Research Training Group IRTG 1627/1 “Virtual Materials and Structures and their Validation” at the Leibniz Universität Hannover (Germany)  invites applications for 2 PhD positions in virtual testing of materials and structures (Salary Scale TV-L E13).

The positions are funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and are available from October 2013 on. The funding period is 3 years.

Carbon nanomaterials (carbon nanotubes, graphene, …) have received significant attention from the academia and industry in the past two decades owing to their superior material properties. Mechanicians have played a major role in the fundamental understanding of the mechanical properties of carbon nanomaterials, and in their wide-range applications. 

The Institute of Mechanics, Department of Mechanical Engineering, is looking for an Assistant Professor (W1) „Computational Mechanics“ to start work from the next possible date. Further details can be found in the attachement.

A one-year post-doc position is available immediately in the Arruda laboratory at the University of Michigan.  The position is renewable, depending on performance.  The project involves analytical and computational modeling of non-woven polymer fibrous networks during high strain rate deformation.  Applicants should have a strong background in solid mechanics, including plasticity.  Knowledge of polymers is a plus.  Send application materials (including cv, list of publications, references and earliest start date) to arruda
