WhatDifference:same stress-strain curve for linear elastic material with nonlinear young's modulus and hyperelastic material

Submitted by Xiaogai Li on

Hi everyone,

Now I am trying to implement Ogden model in Comsol Multiphysics, but I had some problem.

Then I realized that in Comsol, it's possible to implement a nonlinear young's modulus.

But I am a little confused.

If you have a nonlinear Young's modulus, in the stress-strain curve, E is the tangent of this curve.

For hyperelastic material, let's say Ogden material. It's usually a nonlinear stress-strain curve as well.

boundary conditions problem (Tie ,MPC ?)

Submitted by hakim on

Hi Every Body,

I want to lie two parts to have the same displacement when applying a pressure:

for exemple tow coaxial hoses whiche become longueur when applying a pressure (tubes).

there is :

KINEMATIC COUPLING but it works only for a déformable part with à rigid part

i want exactly do the same as what KINEMATIC COUPLING  do but for two defromable parts.

thanks in advance

combining UMAT and UEL

Submitted by hadi on

I am trying to combine UMAT and UEL in my Abaqus calculation to simulate crack propagation by using a damage criterion. My UMAT calculates the damage variable in each time increment and whenever the damage variable violates the damage criterion in one or more elements, I should seperate the damaged element(s) via XFEM theory which can be implemented into a UEL code; therefore, I should use both UMAT and UEL in my calculation. Is there any way to combine these two codes together?

Finite Element Discretization in Time Direction

Submitted by Jayadeep U. B. on

In the finite element analysis of a transient problem, the usual procedure is to discretize the space (domain) using finite elements, while in the time direction, a time-stepping scheme based on finite differences is used. Is it possible to use a finite element type discretization in time also?  Is there any work done in this manner?

Making Animation at ABAQUS with multistep

Submitted by emrecan88 on

Can anyone familiar with Abaqus animations? I have a multistep simulation and in each step I want to show different elements and then get the movie of this. For example lets say I have 1:100 elements: at first step I just want to see 1:50 elements at second step 1:51 elements third 1:52 and continuing like that. How can I get this animation at Abaqus. Is there a commond to do is at the input file? Or how is possible at ODB?

Best Thanks for your help

Structural Engineering in 20 years time??!

Submitted by Mahdi Kazemzadeh on

Since early 60’s the world of structural engineering has been revolutionised. The advance development in science and technology resolved those issues raised by pioneer engineers but at the same time introduced complications into the world of engineering never known before. The question is where we see structural engineering within the next decade. How do we think it will evolve?

Defining a circle

Submitted by JayZ900807 on

Hello everyone.

Does anyone know how to define a circle (a face) in the input file. I have been able to define the basic shape of a semi-circle, but i am having difficulty with generating the nodes and elements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank You!
