Seeking Phd position in Mechanics / MEMS

Submitted by karthi_selvam on

Hello,

I am a Mechanical Engineer with a Masters from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. I have been working in various fields of Mechanical Engineering: Product development of forging components and in software development of hyper-elastic finite element software development.

Springback analysis using ANSYS

Submitted by msd.jacob on

I am carrying out spring back analysis using LS-dyna and hyperform. The procedure as follows: forming is carried  using LS-dyna and then the spring back  is included in to the result file using hyperform and .k files are created using hyperform itself. While running the analysis, after certain number of iterations, the analysis aborts with message equilibrium can’t be achieved.  I have included the both the input files (with and without spring back).

Please point out what could be the mistakes inthe input file and advice me for any additional inputs.

Post Doctoral Position in Multiscale Modeling of Radiation Induced Damage

Submitted by Suvranu De on

There is an opening for a postdoctoral research position in the Advanced Computational Research Laboratory at RPI, Troy NY to work on a multiscale modeling project which involves the modeling of radiation induced damage of metallic materials. Encouraged to apply are creative, self-motivated candidates with a sound background in computational mechanics. Qualifications: 1. PhD in Computational/Applied Mechanics / Materials Science or related topic. 2. Sound background in nonlinear solid mechanics. 3. Sound background in FEM technology. Prior experience in multiscale modeling is a plus. 4.

Constrained Moving Least Squares (CMLS) Method

Submitted by Jafar on

Hello,

I wish to ask where to find more references about application of constrained moving least squares method for imposing displacement bounday conditions in meshless methods. The most important advantage of CMLS over MLS is satisfying Kronecker delta function property, Hence such as finite element methods we can impose the essential boundary conditions in meshless method using CMLS approach.

Thank you,

Jafar Amani

Pressure over closure function for Polyurethane or (nearly) incompressible materials in general

Submitted by Andreas Burger on

Hi,

Is anyone aware of a pressure-overcosure function for (nearly) incompressible materials.

I am aware of functions for PE and articular cartilage but they do not work with v=0.5.   I have been trying to find similar functions for elastomers, but can't seem to find anything.

I am grateful for any input.

 Andreas

Cohesive modelling

Submitted by dnjadhav on

How to decide the parameter like cohesive strength (normal/tangential) for CZM analysis.

If 8mm thick CT specimen without side groove is used to obtain the experimental Load- LLD data. Which specimen should be used to obtain the cohesive strength.

Abaqus FE inputs

Submitted by yogeshtv on

Dear All,

I'm trying to do creep analysis of thermoplastic in abaqus. just i want know the what are all the FE input required for creep analysis for abaqus(also how to get those data). Please who are worked on creep requested to share the information and its usefull for everyone.

Thanks and Regards

Ista.
