hello

 this is my first post on this website

 i am a undergraduate student workin on my dessertation

i have a rectangular plate thickness 2mm dimensions 150 X 50 mm. there are 2 V notch on the plate and a crack is meant to b growin between the V notch that are 

at an angle of 45°. 

i am not good on FEA if some one could please help me with a tutorial to do the problem on FEA and numerical calculations with stress intensity factor, crack growth rate and modelling stresses on the plate.

 

mesh dependence of continuum damage mechanics approach

Hello Everyone,

I am a beginner in FEA of composites under impact in commercial explicit code Pam Crash.I want to know why the behaviour of composite plies with CDM approach show mesh dependency?Or a more general question for me is that what makes the FE simulation of a material with strain softening behavior mesh dependence(If this conclusion is right)? Does it make any difference with regard to mesh dependency if one uses implicit codes??

Import geometry into Abaqus

Hi all,

             I would like to ask how is it possible to import  a sketch or a part into Abaqus without using any other software needed, like CATIA, PARASOLID etc... Currently I am using Matlab to create my geometry. What I obtain is my exact geometry in terms of points given by x,y and z coordinates in txt format or inp format. But still struggle to import my geometry into Abaqus. Any help, more than welcome...

Damage in abaqus 6.10

Good morning,

I'm writing here because I have a problem using the Hashin criterion in abaqus 6.10.

Here after i'll post the card I'm using to define damage initiation and evolution.

Can someone tell me if I'm using it in the correct way?(I'm working with S4R elements)

In the damage evolution I'm using in order the "fiber tensile fracture energy", "fiber compressive fracture energy", "matrix tensile fracture energy", "matrix compression fracture energy".
