Forge2008 to Abaqus (.unv to .inp) subroutine Sigini

Submitted by snatsch on

Hello everyone,

I'm working on a linking project between two software: Forge2008 and Abaqus. My goal is to transfert output datas ( nodes, elements, stress tensor) from one software  as input datas for the next one.

In order to realise this task I have to understand the output format .unv of Forge 2008  (Universal I-deas format) and convert this file to .inp ( Abaqus)

And use the subroutine Sigini in Abaqus to put initial conditions.

So to sum up  do you have informations about .unv file (description of elements)

VCCT- Example/Tutoriel for delamination of composite structures required

Submitted by gmaass on

Dear all,

I'm not an expert in using Abaqus. I need an example for modelling delamination with VCCT technique. My model always excited with errors and I dont understand the meaning of them. I posted a blog before, its still that problem. In Abaqus UsersManuel I do not find the right answers. Is it even possible to simulate delamination of a 3d-shell girder with VCCT?

Because VCCT is based on XFEM and I have read somewhere in the Manuel that XFEM is not for 3d-Shell elements.

Thank you

Kind regards

Postdoc position at UConn: Mechanical behavior of cellular filaments

Submitted by gelyko on

A postdoctoral position is available at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Connecticut in the area of coarse-grain molecular dynamics simulation of cellular membranes and filaments. Extensive experience in molecular dynamics simulation of soft materials and parallel coding is required. Experience in the use of force fields and LAMMPS is highly desirable.

Hi everybody,I am a senior student in mechanics and I need an example of wave propagation in a thin plate to conduct my project. At now,my main problem is how to model it in Ansys or Abaqus.

Thanks in advance,

Using OpenSees!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Dear all,

I am considering using OpenSees software in plane strain SSI analysis
under cyclic loading. I have understood, roughly, how the structure of
the input file and the Tcl scripting language work. Nevertheless, I
would like to know; I understand that to model a rigid body, in
OpenSees, you can tie the horizontal and vertical displacements of the
nodes of the rigid entity. Is there any other way? Or did I
misunderstood?

Hi Every body,

I know that the crack propagation energy release rate G is by defination the release of elastic energy and potential energy of loads per unit area of crack extension and for a linear body loaded by a single load P is given by :

G=P^2/(2b)*dc/da

Any body know if instead of load P, moment M is being used what would be formulation?

I really need this one

Thank you,

Parisa
