I wrote these notes about 10 years ago to supplement a course of lectures at Ecole Polytechnique. There might be errors in the notes, but I hope they can help you learn this fascinating subject of lasting value.

A methodology is devised to utilize the statistical mechanical entropy of an isolated, constrained atomistic system to define the dissipative driving-force and energetic fields in continuum thermomechanics. A thermodynamic model of dislocation mechanics is discussed. One outcome is a definition for the mesoscale back-stress tensor and the symmetric, polar dislocation density-dependent, Cauchy stress tensor from atomistic ingredients.
The Institute of Structural Analysis (ISD) of Leibniz Universität Hannover organizes the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on the Mechanical Response of Composites, from 21st - 23rd September 2011, in cooperation with the Graduate School on Multiscale Methods for Interface Coupling (MUSIC) of Leibniz Universität Hannover, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and REpower Systems AG.
Has anyone worked with EACD-3D96 or EACD-3D2008(a computer program for three-dimensional earthquake analysis of concrete dams)?
I got the source FORTRAN code from NISEE, The Earthquake Engineering Online Archive, but i won't work there are some compile errors that i couldn't fix, could anyone help me on this ?
Hi
is damping of wood, function of frequency?
I mean the wood damping is frequency dependent or no?
if yes, any body can help me to find a reference for numerical data of wood damping as a function of frequency?
thanks alot
Hi,
In order to model a jacket supported by four piles I need to model the interaction between soil and piles in ANSYS ASAS-NL. As I want to make a trasient analysis I use ASAS-NL which unfortunately do not interact with SPLINTER. The jacket structure is modelled by 3D beam elements. Can someone tell me how I model the soil pile interaction? Is it possible to make use of P-Y and T-Z curves in ASAS-NL?
Greetings, I have used I-Deas previously, and purchased ADINA 900 Nodes to attempt a similar project. However, I have not been able to find an answer to a simple question. Namely, I have created a parametric equation for a parabolic shell, and I would like to see it appear in the graphic window. I will post the file in a response line.
