PhD Students Needed to study residual stresses in high pressure components and optimizing fatigue strength: smt@utulsa.edu

Submitted by tiptonsteven on

Two Students are needed to begin immediately.

Description: This research involves experimental and analytical studies on the effect of residual stresses on the fatigue life of high-pressure components. The magnitude, distribution and sustainability of residual stresses will be studied from processes including autofrettage and laser shock peening. These processes will be optimized to maximize structural integrity of high-pressure components under severe fatigue service loading.

Position: Full Tuition and Stipend for up to 3 years with an American industrial sponsor.

Requirements: Applicants must have MS degree from an accredited graduate program.
