PhD oppurtunity in Europe

Submitted by tanmay-mandal on

Hi All,

This is Tanmay Mandal. I am currently completing my M.Tech in Solid Mechanics and Design at IIT Kanpur, India. I am new to iMechanica and so thought to put my first comment on a topic I am quite thinking about in my 2nd year of my research. I want to pursue my PhD research in Europe and have looked at some of the colleges like EPFL, KTH, DELFT and few others to match my research area. Currently I am working on effect of nonlocal elasticity to predict the vibration in nano-structures (like SWCNT). I think there will be ample oppurtunities in Europe to work on this area.

What I really want to know is what is the best score required in TOEFL to get admission into a decent college in Europe. Does GRE score matter for going Europe? What is the normally available scholarship for international students? Can you suggest some colleges that would suit my research area?

I would really appreciate if someone could let me know a little more pertaining my concerns
