Dynamics/Mechanics Research Engineer (Job Number: 1119750) 

Role Synopsis

Baker Hughes is seeking an experienced Research Scientist with a Mechanics/Dynamics background to join their team in The Woodlands, TX.  

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Plan and conduct research, design and development of standard research assignments
• Perform testing to assist technical support teams/projects with product development
• Assignments can be a significant portion of a larger project
• May be the lead Scientist on smaller projects with some functional supervision
• Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters
• Assist in project planning and review
• May participate in customer interface with or without team leader
• Select scientific techniques to solve problems and makes sound recommendations
• Assess results for applicability, validity and conformance to specifications
• Handle special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Scientific discipline 4-6 yrs experience, Masters Degree and 2-4 yrs experience, or PhD and 0-1 yrs experience
• Background in mechanics/dynamics
• Data/signal processing with MATLAB
• Data handling for example utilizing CoPilot, DataBit data
• Willingness to travel up to 5-10% of the time

 Desired/Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer MSc level education and up to 3 years experience
• Dynamics experience outside oil and gas or BHA and drill string design experience with dynamics background
• Intermediate analytical skills
• Ability to communicate well individually and in team environment
• Developed knowledge of sciences
