The AMD Executive Committee (EC) is pleased to announce a student travel award and best paper competition at IMECE 2012 (http://www.asmeconferences.org/congress2012/) this year. This award is aimed to encourage younger members and particularly graduate students to participate in IMECE and the activities of the Division.
Stage 1:
We invite all Symposia Organizers of Track 9 to nominate students (in rank order) for a travel grant. The nomination should consist of a brief one page CV, an abstract of a paper accepted for presentation at IMECE in Track 9, and a draft presentation (all in a single pdf file). Please note that, at the time of the award presentation, the applicant must be enrolled full-time in a degree program at a US institution. The nominations will be reviewed by the EC. Between 10 and 15 students will be selected for travel grants of $750 each.
Stage 2:
The pool of students receiving travel awards will also become eligible to participate in the best paper contest. The contestants will be judged by a subcommittee made up of an overall organizer and TC chairs (or designees) on the basis of the final version of their presentation slides, and the top three will be selected for awards of $500, $300 and $200.
Deadlines:
