PhD Program in "Computational Mechanics and Advanced Materials"

We would like to highlight to all the interested students that is now opened the competition for the academic year 2012-2013 for up to 8 positions in PhD program in "Computational mechanics and advanced materials" hosted by the The Institute for Advanced Study of Pavia, in cooperation with the University of Pavia. The program chairmen are Prof. F. Brezzi and Prof. F. Auricchio.

 

For all positions, the successful candidates are expected to have a high level of motivation, sound academic accomplishments and ability to learn and work independently. It is also expected that the successful candidates will have an active role in disseminating the outcomes including presenting at conferences and publishing scientific papers. The program is three years in duration. 

 

The field of research of the 4 offered fellowships are: 

1) Computational biomechanics

2) Constitutive Modeling for SMA (Shape Memory Alloys)

3) FSI and immersed methods

4) Isogeometric analysis

 

4 positions are offered jointly by the Institute for the Advanced Study (IUSS) and the University of Pavia, both located in Pavia, Italy and covered by scholarships, according to Italian PhD rules, but up to 4 self-funded candidates will also be considered.

The deadline for the submission of the application is July 30, 2012.
