Post-doctoral associate position at Dartmouth College

A post-doctoral associate position jointly funded by the NIH and NOCSAE is available at the Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College. This position will support research in biomechanics of the human brain in vivo and the mechanisms of traumatic brain injury in the context of sports-related concussion, using stereovision, image-analysis, and finite element modeling. Interested applicants please send a cover letter, CV, and a list of 3 professional references to Songbai DOT Ji AT Dartmouth.edu. This position will remain open until filled.

 [More detailed info follows:]

Applicants are expected to have an earned Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with MATLAB, image analysis, and finite element modeling (e.g., Abaqus) is essential. This position will involve working with a team of biomechanical researchers and clinicians to analyze stereoscopic images of exposed brain surfaces from patients undergoing open-skull neurosurgery, as well as to simulate brain responses under external impact to study the mechanisms of sports-related concussion. The post-doc associate will also be expected to participate in preparing research articles, presenting research findings at conference meetings, and contributing to grants. Therefore, excellent writing and communication skills are important.
