The ASME Multifunctional Materials Technical Committee of the Materials Division is organizing several topics related to Multifunctional Material Systems at IMECE2013 to be held in San Diego, CA, during Nov. 15-21, 2013 .

Abstract submission deadline: February 14, 2013

Symposium Description:
Multifunctional materials are a class of material systems that combine multiple functions including mechanical, electronic, optical, magnetic, acoustic, and/or biological functions, and are capable of exhibiting diverse physical responses when subjected to various external conditions. Multifunctional material systems are at the forefront of current science and technology and are expected to bring important breakthroughs in various technological fields.

List of the topics (with topic number) and organizers for IMECE 2013 are as follows. To submit your abstracts , select the proper track and topic (for instance, track 7 and topic 12 for Materials and Nanostructures for Energy Applications).

2-22, Bioinspired materials and structures (Seyed Allameh, Northern Kentucky University; Zhenhai Xia, University of North Texas)

7-6, Biofuel Conversion, Application and Instrumentation (Seyed Allameh, Northern Kentucky Univeristy)

7-12, Materials and Nanostructures for Energy Applications (Junhong Chen, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee; Robert Vajtai, Rice University; Bingqing Wei, University of Delaware; Zhenhai Xia, University of North Texas)
