Composite ply modelling in abaqus
Dear all,
i have to perform analysis of composite ply (0/90, cross ply laminate) for material graphite epoxy composite in abaqus to compare the result of maximum z displacement of exact solution and abaqus.
for modelling, i have defined a composite layup using the composite modelling tool of abaqus having two ply at 0 and 90 degree. i have defined a single lamina material and selected it for both 0 & 90 ply. the dimension of ply is .229*.127m with ply thickness of .00127m. for this first i made a planner shell of given dimension and then created the ply using the composite tool by selecting the planner surface as region.
the boundry condition is defined for quarter ply analysis so that the 2 edges are(top and right) are free to displace in z direction also. i have applied a transverse uniformly distributed load of 689.5N/m^2. But the result shows a huge difference with a factor of approx 10^-3.(the displacement as compared with exact solution is very less)
Kindly give me suggestion in my modelling scheme. any refrence or links will be highly appreciated.
Thanks & regards
