A PhD student position is available in Prof. Peng-Cheng Ma’s group in The Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The institute locates in Urumqi, Xinjiang Province, a city exhibits distinctively historic and cultural atmosphere. Currently the major research activities in the group are: i) Carbon-based materials for structural and functional applications; ii) Design, synthesis and application of polymer-based composites. The research projects are supported by the National 1000-Talent Program (Recruitment Program of Global Experts, in Chinese: QianRenJiHua), the National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC), as well as the 100-Talent Program of CAS. The PhD project will focus on the fabrication and application of materials with hierarchical structures for environmental remediation (water purification, oil-water separation). Students with high level of initiativeness and research experience in carbon-based materials (carbon nanotubes, graphene, carbon fibre, etc) and/or polymer nanocomposites, are encouraged to apply.
