About Us
We are the Visual Computing Center (VCC), formerly known as the Geometric Modeling and Scientific Visualization Center (GMSV) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Thuwal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Visual Computing Center (VCC) is dedicated to bringing KAUST to the forefront of research in Visual Computing. Visual Computing and novel visualization environment capabilities act as catalysts for researchers to enable them to optimally conduct novel scientific research leading to discoveries and inventions that fit unique needs of Saudi Arabia, the region, and the world.

The Center performs fundamental and application-oriented research in a variety of areas of Visual Computing, such as geometric modeling and geometry processing, scientific visualization, virtual reality, rendering, simulation, Computational Geometry and Topology, Computer Vision, as well as Computational Imaging and Display.

Position Summary:
The Visual Computing Center (VCC) at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia is offering a job position as Research Engineer for its new Optoelectronics Lab. The job involves development of research prototypes in the field of computational displays and computational photography, as well as basic lab management. Appointment category will be based on experience and educational background. The successful candidate will work closely together with our faculty and researchers to produce cutting-edge research prototypes. KAUST offers highly competitive salaries and a generous benefits package as well as accommodation on multi-cultural campus.

Primary responsibilities:
• Design of electronic and opto-electronic circuits
• Development and implementation of research prototypes
• Microcontroller programming
• Active contributions to ongoing research projects at GMSV

Other responsibilities
• Interface with researchers at the GMSV Center
• Maintenance of a state-of-the-art background in Visual Computing

Core competencies:
• Working experience in opto- and microelectronics
• Programming proficiency for microcontrollers (e.g. in C/C++)
• Experience with mid- to high frequency electronics (up to ca. 100 MHz)

Competencies in the following areas are beneficial:
• Printed circuit board design
• Experience with surface mount components
• Experience with LEDs, laser diodes, image sensors and camera arrays.

Qualification:
Education
• M.Sc. with at least 5 years of work experience electrical engineering or a closely related field, OR
• PhD. degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
Experience
• Several years of project experience in the relevant areas
