At the chair of Computational Mechanics (chair Prof. T. Rabczuk) at the Bauhaus University Weimar, there are
6 open positions for PhD-students or Post-Docs
for a maximum period of 5 years; the earliest start date is June 1, 2014. Postdoctoral candidates will be preferred. The applicants supposed to work in an international team on several aspects of multi-scale and multi-physics modeling of polymers, polymeric nanocomposites and Lithium ion batteries.
Requirements
- PhD or M.Sc. in Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering
- Excellent knowledge in Computational Methods (in particular FEM, XFEM), Mechanics and Applied Mathematics
- Experience on one or more of the following topics: Development of MD potentials, DFT, MD, computational modeling of polymers, polymer-matrix composites or lithium ion batteries, multiscale modeling (FE^2, BDM, Arlequin method, BSM, QCM, etc.), peridynamics, phase field modeling, goal oriented error estimation and adaptivity, uncertainty quantification, optimization.
-Excellent coding skills (C/C++ or Fortran)
The salary is according to TV-L East E13 BBesG (around 2200-2500 Euro/month depending on family status).
