The Microstructure Testing
and Analysis Laboratory at Purdue University, School of Mechanical Engineering is
seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Postdoctoral Research Associate
position in the area of Computational Fracture Mechanics

The mission
of the Microstructure Testing and Analysis Laboratory is to advance the
knowledge on mechanics of engineering materials and biological materials under
consideration of micro-scale effects and processes. Furthermore, research is
concerned with the relationships between microstructure, constitutive
description, and the overall function of a microstructured structure.

The successful candidate
will be key personnel in a team that is conducting research on creep fatigue
interaction in high temperature metallic material systems. He/she will be
responsible for developing and implementing computational algorithms for
constitutive continuum models and models of material separation.  The candidate should have a strong background
in mechanics of materials with ideally and emphasis on metallic materials, as
well as experience in finite element analysis.

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical
Engineering or Theoretical & Applied Mechanics,
  • Evidence of prior or
ongoing publication activity in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Background in mechanics
    of materials, fracture mechanics
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ABAQUS or
    similar software.

Close Date:
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position
is filled.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Interested applicants should send their CVs, along with cover letters, the
