I am modelling fracture in timber using the XFEM method in ABAQUS. I started with a model where I gave isotropic properties to the timber and it is working. Now I would like to have orthotropic properties for the material and use a cylincrical coordinate system. Unfortunately when I change the material properties the model does not work anymore. Do you any idea of why? Further when I choose orthotropic or engineering constant in the module property for the material, the subscripts refer to the global coordinate system or to the one that I created for assigning the material orientation?
