Candidates for this professorship are expected to have an excellent record in the fields of continuum mechanics and of simulation technologies. Research should focus on multifield and multi-physics problems and their computational aspects, preferably on modelling porous media and advanced numerical methods for massively parallel computing.

The successful candidate should strengthen the activities of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the area of Computational Mechanics and work closely with the Stuttgart Research Centre for Simulation Technology (SRC SimTech). Collaboration with research initiatives such as the International Research Training Group “Nonlinearities und Upscaling in Porous Media” (NUPUS) is also expected.

The position involves teaching the fundamentals of engineering mechanics and, in particular, aspects of nonlinear continuum mechanics and multi-field problems in study courses offered by the faculty as well as in cooperation with other faculties.

The requirements for employment listed in § 47 and § 50 Baden-Württemberg university law apply.

Applications should be sent as soon as possible but not later than November 30th, 2014, to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty for Environmental and Civil Engineering, University of Stuttgart, Pfaffenwaldring 7, D-70569 Stuttgart, dekanat@f02.uni-stuttgart.de, either by electronic or by regular mail (in this case, including a data carrier containing pdf versions of the documents). Applications should include the usual documents (CV, degree certificates, references, publication list, five selected off-prints).
