Postdoctoral Research in Impact and Ballistic Behaviour of Graphene Reinforced Nanocomposites

I am Dr. Piyush Gaur, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, India. With over nine years of interdisciplinary research experience in the realms of experimental and computational biomechanics, I am deeply involved in the study and development of advanced nanocomposite materials for aerospace and defense applications.

My research, which is well-grounded in the mechanics of materials and composite research, has sparked a keen interest in the high strain rate behavior, ballistic performance, and microscale/mesoscale modeling of graphene-reinforced composites. I am exploring opportunities to expand this research in a collaborative environment that challenges and utilizes my skills in dynamic material testing and computational modelling.

Research Background:

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi, specialising in impact biomechanics.
• Extensive experience with mechanical testing of composites, including tensile, flexural, shear, and fracture toughness tests, as well as biaxial testing on soft materials.
• Proficient in simulation tools such as LS-DYNA, Hypermesh, and Materialize Mimics, with good and relevant publications.  
• Currently working under a DST TARE fellowship grant, focusing on developing vehicle armour prototypes soon to undergo ballistic testing at DRDO, India.

Looking For:

• Opportunities to work as a visiting researcher or postdoctoral fellow, particularly in projects that focus on the impact and ballistic behaviour of graphene-reinforced composites,.
