Prof. Ravi was on my Ph.D. committee at Caltech more than 10 years ago. Like other students, I think he is such a unique faculty in the US, in addition to his scientific contributions. He remembered most of the students’ names he met. He’s always open his door to students, even not his own graduate students. His Japanese student from Tokyo told me Prof. Ravi talked to him about the subway stations in Tokyo. To Chinese students, he talked about Xiaoping Deng (a Chinese leader who opened the door to the world in 1970s) and Falun Gong (not many Chinese remember this). So he lets us feel--Caltech is your home… After I graduated and met him again, he always asked--how is your family?
Prof. G. Ravichandran is extremely friendly to students
