Now receiving new submissions for the special issue on mechanics in energy materials.

Energy materials are an emerging interdisciplinary area that applied mechanics finds its unique contributions. There have been rapid advances in theories, modeling, and experimental characterizations of mechanical behaviors of advanced energy materials and systems over the past few years. The phenomenal progress highlights the significance of mechanics perspectives on the energy solutions. Meanwhile, the field of strongly coupled energy conversion and mechanics provides a platform to advance the frontier of fundamental mechanics. The themed issue aims to feature the-state-of-the-art of mechanics in energy materials. Bridging the gap between the interdisciplinary areas with a timely set of articles in the focused collection can be truly rewarding. Interesting topics to be included in the themed issue may include, but are not limited to:

  • Chemomechanical characterization of batteries, catalysts and solid state fuel cells
  • Design, analysis, homogenization and optimization of thermoelectrics
  • Mechanical issues in solar energy conversion
  • Reliabilities and fatigues of materials for renewable energy
  • Advanced characterization techniques on different scales
  • Multi-scale modeling, simulation and theory of advanced energy materials
  • Mechanics guided material designs and optimizations
  • Conversion of mechanical energy and other forms of energy

Manuscript Submission:

Manuscripts should be formatted and be submitted online according to the instructions for Extreme Mechanics Letters at http://www.elsevier.com/journals/extreme-mechanics-letters/2352-4316/guide-for-authors. The authors must select “SI: Mechanics in Energy” when specifying the “Article Type” in the submission system (EVISE) via http://www.evise.com/evise/faces/pages/navigation/NavController.jspx?JRNL_ACR=EML. All submissions will undergo the peer review process. The papers will be published online as soon as they are accepted.
