Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme – Seeking Postdoctoral Candidates in the area of Multiscale Mechanics of Biological Tissues

The 2016 Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme launches in October 2015 and seeks to fund early-stage postdoctoral researchers across all disciplines for up to 2 years. I am seeking potential postdoctoral candidates that would be willing to apply for funding under this scheme, which, if successful, would allow them to carry out research in the area of Multiscale Mechanics of Biological Tissues in the Biomechanics Research Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

To be eligible for this funding scheme, you must (i) have been awarded your doctoral degree within the last five years, (ii) have authored or co-authored at least one published peer-reviewed research publication and (iii) must not be a permanent member of staff in a Higher Education Institute. The total value of the Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship is up to €45,895 per annum.

Areas of interest and potential proposals could focus on,

• Multiscale modelling of hard/soft tissue biomechanics.
• Multiscale modelling of bone mechanobiology.
• Numerical algorithms of bone remodelling and/or fracture healing.
• Micro- and Nano-mechanical characterisation of biological tissues.
