We welcome applications for a post-doctoral position in the Multiscale Computational Mechanics Laboratory (MCML) at Vanderbilt University. MCML is a part of the interdisciplinary Multiscale Modeling and Simulation (MuMS) facility.

The successful candidate will work on the modeling and simulation of high-temperature creep-fatigue failure response of polycrystalline materials, primarily at the grain level.  The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science or a closely related discipline. This work requires significant knowledge of cohesive zone modeling, polycrystal plasticity modeling and fundamental understanding of continuum mechanics and plasticity. Candidates must have a strong background in mathematics, mechanics and materials science. Significant experience on programming is required.

The position is initially for 12-months, with possibility of renewal. The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The start date is January 2016. Interested candidates should apply by email to Prof. Caglar Oskay (caglar.oskay@vanderbilt.edu) including the following documents in PDF form: (1) A complete and current curriculum vitae; and, (2) A list of 2 references (including name, affiliation, address, e-mail, and phone number).
