PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Multiscale Modeling and Experiments of Ballistic Fibers and Composites at the University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials

Submitted by sockalsi on

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral and a PhD studentship position at the University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials (CCM) focused on multiscale modeling and experiments of high performance ballistic fibers and composites

The successful applicants will join an interdisciplinary team of faculty, researchers and scientists and have an opportunity to collaborate and work within a major research program Materials in Extreme Dynamic Environments (MEDE) program. CCM is a lead consortium member of the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute Materials in MEDE Collaborative Research Alliance consortium. Polyethylene and S-glass/epoxy have been selected as the model polymer system and model composite system, respectively, for the program. The research involves both multi-scale modeling and experimental work ranging from molecular dynamics to the continuum length scales. The overall goal is to develop a materials-by-design approach to improve material performance in extreme dynamic environments.

Please send a CV, a cover letter including a summary of research interests and representative publications to Professor John W. Gillespie Jr. gillespi [at] udel.edu (gillespi[at]udel[dot]edu)
