Multiple postdoctoral associate positions in virtual surgery at RPI

Description & Requirement
The Center for Modeling, Simulation and Imaging in Medicine (CeMSIM) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA invites applications for multiple postdoctoral associate positions to work on projects funded by the NIH on developing virtual surgery technology.  The ideal candidate will develop the next generation surgical simulation technology  based on advanced physics-based computational methods and robotic systems in collaboration with surgeons at Harvard Medical School.

Requirements:

•    PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
•    Strong background in Computer Graphics.
•    Excellent C++ skills
•    Strong background with object-oriented programming, inheritance and abstraction.
•    Ability to develop software on Windows and Linux
•    Familiar with multithreaded programming
•    A strong interest in computer graphics and/or game development.
•    An unmistakable passion for solving hard problems in creative and insightful ways. A strong interest in learning about and playing with the very latest technologies in graphics, games and VR.

Preferred:
•    Familiar with cross platform software development
•    Familiar with OpenGL and 3D graphics programming
•    Experience using program and memory debuggers (gdb, valgrind)
•    Familiar with CMake
•    Experience with VR devices such as the Oculus Rift
•    Experience with haptic devices
