The Department of Materials Engineering is seeking to appoint two academic staff as continuing positions. The department is highly research active and has extensive, modern research facilities. Applications are sought from suitable candidates who have an excellent research record, with high quality publications and an ability to attract competitive research funding. The department is a participant in a number of major research centres and has a history of both strong fundamental research and collaborative industrial work. It is located adjacent to a new university electron microscope facility, a number of relevant divisions of CSIRO and the new Australian synchrotron. A substantial nanofabrication facility will soon be built adjacent to the university.  Areas of research interest to the department are biomimetics, biomaterials, tissue engineering, bionanotechnology, surface properties, mechanical properties, mechanical metallurgy, mechanics of materials, nanomaterials, synchrotron characterisation, and advanced fabrication. However, applications are welcome in other areas of materials research. Evidence of the ability of the applicant to teach to a high standard is also desirable. Appointment will be made at a level appropriate to the successful applicant’s qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification standards for each level.

Salary range:  $65,843 - $78,189 / $80,658 - $93,003 pa Level B/Level C plus generous superannuation
