There is an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher position in Professor Albert To’s research group (www.pitt.edu/~albertto) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at University of Pittsburgh. The position is in topology optimization, computational mechanics, and/or additive manufacturing (AM). Current research focus of the group is on the mechanics, design, and fabrication of lightweight complex AM structures. Successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art computing AM systems in the Additive Manufacturing Research Laboratory (AMRL) at Pitt, for which Professor To serves as the Director. These AM systems include the EOS DMLS M290, Optomec LENS 450, ExOne M-Flex, and Stratasys Objet Connex machines. Successful candidate will conduct research in one of the following areas: (1) Topology optimization or (2) Microstructure and mechanical behavior prediction.

The candidate must have the following qualifications:

1) A PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science, or other related fields from an academic institution in the US

2) Demonstrated expertise and research experience in topology optimization, computational mechanics, and/or additive manufacturing

3) Experience in programming in Matlab, C/C++ and in various CAD and FEA software packages, especially ANSYS, ABAQUS, SolidWorks and Inventor
