Looking for a postdoctoral position

Submitted by jhmeng@buaa.edu.cn on

Dear Professor,

Having achieved many goals in my career of aircraft design and its material mechanics, I am interested in expanding my professional horizons by seeking new challenges in the area of mechanics of composite materials. I am interested in a postdoctoral position and have enclosed my Curriculum Vitae and a brief description of my research accomplishment for your review and consideration.

As you can see, I have joined the Advanced Aircraft Research Center of Beihang University for 5 years, which is one of the most excellent research groups in BUAA. During my studies towards the doctoral degree, my partner and I designed China's first stratospheric airship and completed its first test flight. I have also taken part in several other system engineering projects to research on the structural design and mechanical properties of several kinds of aircraft, such as the conceptual design of a buoyancy-lifting hybrid vehicle and the aeroelastic analysis for conceptual design of a solar-powered UAV with a high-aspect ratio wing. In these engineering projects, my research works focus mainly on the conceptual design, mechanical properties analysis and simulation. And I also have taken part in several flight tests of the new concept aircraft as a mechanical engineer. In order to accomplish these studies, I am proficient with the finite element analysis software, such as ABAQUS, and the programming software, such as MATLAB and Python.

As a member of your organization, I can provide:

  • Maturity, honesty, ability to look at great challenges as great opportunities.
  • Enthusiastically hard work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to develop and lead a team.

I am now focusing on the research of mechanical properties of 2-D composite materials for the airship envelope material. I have finished the micromechanical model and published 2 SCI-papers recently. And I still hold a series of unpublished data that will appear in forthcoming publications. The light weight and superior mechanical properties of the high-performance structure in the aircraft interest me very much. After earning my doctorate, I decided to continue my research into it. If I can join your group, I can be engaged in the related research.

Thank you for your consideration. Greatly looking forward to speaking with you soon.

With kind regards!

Sincerely yours,

Junhui Meng
