PhD Position at McGill University in Smart Advanced Materials
One PhD position is available for Fall 2017 in the Bioresource Engineering Department of McGill University. The research is on the Multiscale Modelling of Smart Advanced Materials. Theoretical, computational, and experimental studies will be conducted for design and analysis of smart advanced materials for energy scavenging. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Hamid Akbarzadeh at McGill University. For this position,
Required qualifications for the position are:
1. Strong background in Computational mechanics, Multiphysics simulation, Multiscale analysis, and Smart materials. Previous experience in finite element simulation is a must.
2. Experience with Homogenization techniques, Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation, and Nonlinear analysis is an asset.
3. Proficiency in using commercial finite element packages such as ANSYS and COMSOL.
4. Excellent programing skills using MATLAB and Python/C.
5. Good publication records.
6. Proficiency in English and high undergraduate and graduate GPA for admission to McGill University
Interested candidates should send their Cover letter (emphasizing on their previous experience on computational multiscale simulation and finite element analysis of smart materials), CV, and two representative publications to Dr. Hamid Akbarzadeh (hamid.akbarzadeh@mcgill.ca) by December 15, 2016. Shortlisted candidates might be asked to provide further information.
