Faculty Positions in
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM

The Physical Science and Engineering (PSE) Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) (http://pse.kaust.edu.sa) invites qualified applicants to apply for faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) in the Mechanical Engineering Program.

KAUST offers superb research facilities in Research Centers and Core Labs, and generous assured research funding and internationally competitive salaries. The science produced in PSE focuses on understanding, modeling, and manipulating matters at all scales (nano, meso, and macroscopic levels), in all forms (bulk, thin films, divided colloids, fluid flows, earth as system, etc.) and in interaction with external stimuli (light, heat, fluids, stresses, etc.). The knowledge produced serves to help design and engineer novel materials, technologies, and systems.

The Mechanical Engineering Program (http://me.kaust.edu.sa) at KAUST has eleven full-time faculty members. Their research focuses on the following areas: combustion and energy, fluid mechanics, materials and solid mechanics, and dynamics and control. The Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC) carries out cutting-edge research on all aspects of combustion from flame study to modeling.

Priorities will be given to outstanding candidates with research interests in areas that may enhance and complement the KAUST research centers, including, but not limited to:
Combustion: Advanced internal combustion engine experiments and modeling; advanced theory and modeling of combustion at laboratory and device scales. The faculty members are also expected to be affiliated with the Clean Combustion Research Center: http://ccrc.kaust.edu.sa

Fluid mechanics: experimental and/or computational research in fluid flows of relevance to environment or petroleum industry, such as flow in porous media, multi-phase flow, turbulence, and dynamics of complex liquids.

Solid mechanics: metallic materials, high-performance computing, numerical methods and applied mathematics for solid mechanics.

Control and Dynamics: nonlinear control, stochastic phenomena, multi-body dynamics, structural mechanics and vibrations.

Applicants should have a proven track record to establish a high impact research program and have a commitment to high quality teaching at the graduate level.

To complete the online application form, visit http://pse.kaust.edu.sa/employment.aspx.

Application requirements include the following:
• Updated curriculum vitae with a full list of publications
• Statement of research
• Statement of teaching
• Contact details of at least four potential referees

Applications received by January 31, 2017 will receive full consideration but positions will remain open until filled.
