Travel Awards for 2007 ASME Congress

The Robert M. and Mary Haythornthwaite Foundation is offering $1,000 travel grants for U.S. graduate students currently enrolled at any U.S. universities or colleges presenting a paper in any field of applied mechanics at the 2007 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exhibition (IMECE) in Seattle, Washington, November 11 – 15, 2007.

Up to five (5) travel grants totaling $1,000 each are available. The grant will reimburse for the Congress registration fee and all eligible travel expenses up to the maximum amount of each award. Original receipts will be required for reimbursements. The Award will be administered by the Executive Committee of the Applied Mechanics Division.

Eligible graduate students (US citizens, nationals or permanent residents enrolled in US universities) should submit a 1000 word extended abstract of their paper/presentation by November 1, 2007 to Professor K. Ravi-Chandar, Chairman, Executive Committee, Applied Mechanics Division by e-mail: kravi@mail.utexas.edu. Please include at the heading of the abstract, the title, author name(s), email address, university, and 2007 IMECE Paper/presentation number. Winners will be announced at the Student Reception on Wednesday evening November 14, 2007. Also please indicate the name and e-mail address of the faculty advisor.
