2017/18 PhD program at IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (Italy) - follow up announcement

Applications are being accepted for the 2017/18 PhD program at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (www.imtlucca.it), for the track on Computer Science and Systems Engineering (CSSE) focusing on Cyberphysical Systems.
As a mechanician, you will benefit from:
- A unique interdisciplinary course plan of 150 hours of intensive courses in English on: advanced numerical linear algebra; numerical methods for partial differential equations; computational contact and fracture mechanics; micromechanics; multiscale methods; convex optimization; parallel and distributed programming; cloud computing.
- Research period abroad in a well-reputed university (contacts are already established with: University of Michigan, Oxford, TU Berlin, EPFL, Seville, Paris-EST, Hannover, Weimar, among many others);
- Possibility to be exposed to innovative research topics in mechanics supported by two prestigious grants of the European Research Council;
- Possibility to work also on experimental activities across materials science and mechanics in the MUSAM-Lab;
- Possibility to choose your own preferred research topic;
- Possibility to interact with industrial companies (some projects are already available);
- Free accommodation in the campus, including canteen services, in addition to the PhD scholarship (which means you have about 1000 euro net amount at your disposal);
- Tenure money of 3000 euro for the participation in conferences and summer schools during your 3-year PhD programme;
We are seeking for talented perspective students, fully committed to research. Last year we admitted about 1 student over 100 applicants.
