2017 Daniel C. Drucker Medal - Professor David Parks

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor David Parks, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as the recipient of the 2017 Daniel C. Drucker Medal. This award, which includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium, will be presented at the AMD Honors and Awards Banquet, tentatively scheduled on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, during the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, to be held in Tampa, Florida, November 3-9, 2017.

The Daniel C. Drucker Medal was established in 1997 and is conferred in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of applied mechanics and mechanical engineering through research, teaching, and service to the community over a substantial period of time. Instituted by the Applied Mechanics Division, this medal honors Dr. Daniel Drucker and commemorates his service to the profession.

Professor Parks receives the Drucker Medal for seminal contributions to the formulation of constitutive theories and computational procedures for large inelastic deformation and failure of metals and polymers.
