Postdoc Position in Optimization, Metamodelling, and Statistical Analysis at McGill University

One postdoctoral and/or one MSc/PhD position are available in the Bioresource Engineering Department of McGill University for January 2018. The postdoctoral researcher and MSc student will work on a multidisciplinary research project involving Metamodeling, Optimization, Statistical analysis, and Numerical multiscale simulation to develop a predicative mathematical-computational model to analyze statistical biological data and to simulate transport phenomena in porous biological media. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Hamid Akbarzadeh at McGill University.

Required qualifications for the postdoctoral position are:

1. PhD in Mechanical, Civil, or Biological Engineering or any other related fields with strong background in optimization and mathematical and numerical modelling.

2. Strong background in Optimization, Metamodeling, and Statistical analysis. Previous experience in these fields is a must.

3. Expertise in Finite element and Molecular dynamics simulation is a strong asset.

4. Excellent programing skills using MATLAB and Python/C++ for developing codes for statistical and optimization analysis and proficiency in using commercial finite element and molecular dynamics packages.

5. Excellent publication records and communication skills.

Required qualifications for MSc/PhD position are:

1. Background in Molecular dynamics/Atomistic simulation, Optimization, and Multiscale finite element modelling for transport phenomena in porous biological/environmental materials.

4. Excellent programing skills using MATLAB and Python/C++ and proficiency in using commercial finite element and molecular dynamics packages.

5. Good publication records, High BSc and MSc GPA, and Good communication skills.
