Phd positions in Mechanical/Structural Engineering University of Technology Sydney

The School of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney is seeking PhD students to work on projects related to:

 

a) Energy Harvesting: harnessing renewable energy from wind, vibration, human motion, ocean wave, etc.

b) Smart Materials and Structures: adaptive structures with composite materials, smart materials (piezoelectric/flexoelectric/triboelectric/magnetorheological,etc) for energy conversion and vibration control; acoustic metamaterials

c) Aeroelasticity: galloping, vortex-induced vibration, flutter, wake galloping, turbulence induced oscillation, etc.

d) Simultaneous energy harvesting and vibration control

e) Integrated Self-Powered Wireless Sensors/Active Tags

 

Students from Mechanical/Structural/Civil Engineering with experiences in nonlinear dynamics, aerodynamics, finite element modelling, programming (e.g., Matlab) and experiments are highly desired. However, students with good academic records and strong self-motivation are all encouraged to apply.

 

Entry requirement:

Master's or bachelor's degree with first or second class honours (division 1) or an equivalent or higher qualification;

If previous education was not conducted in English, there is English language proficiency requirement: IELTS overall 6.0 with writing 6.0

 

Scholarship:

The selected candidates will receive financial support covering full tuition along with stipend and benefits for three years.
