Applications are invited for a graduate studentship position in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina, focused on the multiphysics modeling of thermoplastic composite material induction welding process. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of faculty and researchers at the McNAIR Center for Aerospace Innovation and Research. The research involves studying computational modeling using finite element techniques to predict heat generation, heat transfer and residual stresses in thermoplastic composites.
The successful applicant must have a background in computational mechanics and knowledge of composite materials. Familiarity with commercial finite element codes is a plus.
To apply, please send a CV and a cover letter including a summary of research interests to vantooren [at] cec.sc.edu and sockalin [at] cec.sc.edu.
