Xi Chen's picture

The Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University is launching a new Center for Advanced Materials for Energy and Environment. The Center emphasizes on both fundamental and applied research, in particular those related to technology development. We have multiple immediate openings for strongly motivated postdocs and PhD students. The areas of interest include but are not limited to (1) new materials for batteries, fuel cells, and energy storage devices; (2) novel nanostructured catalytic materials; (3) new materials and absorbents for cleaning or filtering air, water, and solid waste management; (4) materials and technologies relevant to agriculture and food industry; (5) materials and structures for energy production and conversion, in particular oil/natural gas and biomass energy; (6) material genomics for energy and environment; (7) intersection between mechanics and materials with energy, power, chemical, agricultural, and environmental engineering. Interested applicants should send a CV, research statement, and names of 3 references to Professor Xi Chen, xichen@columbia.edu
