Summer School on Computational Materials Science at Texas A&M

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to announce the coming seventh iteration of the Computational Materials Science Summer School at Texas A&M University, CMS3. The school will take place in College Station, TX from July 22 – Aug. 3, 2018. Application deadline is May 1.US-based academic participants will be provided with registration, travel and boarding support. A limited number of fellowships will also be available to internationally-based participants. This school is aimed at graduate students, postdocs, junior scientists and engineers in academia, national laboratories and industry who would like to learn more about state of the art techniques in computational materials science. Topics included are: thermodynamics and kinetics of microstructures, micromechanics of plasticity, fracture and phase transformations, mesoscale modeling methods (phase field, dislocation dynamics), atomistic simulations (molecular dynamics, electronic structure calculations) and elements of integrated computer-aided materials design and materials informatics. The school will include lectures on each specific topic, followed by comprehensive, hands-on practical sessions where the students will have the opportunity to use some of the most common computer simulation codes. Please encourage your graduate students/post-docs/colleagues to apply soon as the school is limited to 20-22 participants. If you have any questions, please email Olga Sauceda, ogsauseda@exchange.tamu.edu, or Dillon Vaughn, dillon.vaughn@tamu.edu.
