Job Summary

Apple display team is looking for an enthusiastic and highly qualified engineer to lead the structural and dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in flat panel display and touch sensor. The successful candidate needs to have strong background in soft material constitutive characterization and modeling, and must be highly self-motivated.

Core Responsibility

The position is focusing on developing predicative finite element models for advanced soft materials (adhesives, foams, gels, etc) applied in flat panel display and touch sensor. The successful understanding of these materials’ complex mechanical property and behavior is essential in improving mechanical design and module integration process. The candidate is expected to understand the engineering challenges, propose and execute solutions through independent creative thinking, internal cross-functional collaboration and facing with supplier.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in theoretical and applied mechanics of solid materials; thorough understanding of fundamental principles for mechanical behavior of materials
  • Strong expertise in soft material mechanics for hyper-elasticity, visco-elasticity and dynamic mechanical behavior, demonstrated through track record of relevant research experience and academic work
  • Hands on experience in designing and executing characterization and validation testings for understanding material constitutive behavior
  • Hands on experience in developing finite element material models for widely used FEA softwares, such as Abaqus and ANSYS. Soft material relevant experience is a plus
  • Experience with practical FEA project using Abaqus or ANSYS
  • Knowledge of display a plus
  • Strong analytical & critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 Education

MS required, Ph.D. preferred, in Mechanical Engineering, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Material Sciences/Engineering.
